Wedding Guestbook for Elaine and Stefan

I was honored to be approached by Elaine to create a custom Wedding Guestbook for their recent nuptials. Elaine had seen my recent stitching work for my Bound Up series and wanted that style incorporated into the cover, along with a romantic nod to the stars and the incorporation of space for long sentimental notes and instant photos of wedding guests.

This is one of the largest guestbooks I've made to date, so I had to take the book's stability into account when deciding how to bind it up. In the end, I decided to go with a Secret Belgian Binding to allow for the pages to "expand" with the addition of the instant photos to be inserted by the guests. Due to the impending expansion of the book, I made sure to include a peg and elastic closure to make sure the book would travel well without anything falling out.

I selected a handmade blue and gold marbled paper to construct the cover and featured a thin gold floss for stitching over the triangle on the cover. Often, this stitching is the longest part of the process; making the stitching cross in just the right places takes a bit of forethought and manipulation and often I take it all apart and start over. I love this technique, but it's definitely a labor of love.

I was really happy with how this guestbook turned out and was giddy to ship it off to California! The big day looked magical and full of unique details. I was so happy to contribute to Elaine and Stefan's big day!

XOXO,

Abigail
